The Merryvale Adventures, Book 1: A Very Strange Land
genre: Children's Fiction: fantasy
A Very Strange Land is the first of a set of books designed for pre-teen girls. The first story takes place at a riding school in a land called Merryvale, a realm of oddities, flying horses, and wonderfully bad puns. There is a very strange riding instructress, encouraging parents, and a lesson to be learned: that with confidence, one can do anything, particularly if you use considerable style and grace!

The First Misadventure of Fragger Sparks: A Ranger Leads the Way
genre: Science Fiction: military
Sergeant First Class Jonathan Fragger Sparks is a proud, tough, resilient U.S. Army Ranger combat veteran. Fragger's faced and survived the toughest enemies on the planet from Vietnam to Desert Storm I. The problem is, he’s no longer on present day Earth!

He’s been revived six centuries into the future, and the future considers him a Rerun, scum from the past fit only for menial tasks. But, as he soon discovers, he’s a very unusual Rerun. Two warring space powers - EarthCorp and the Ricers - suspect he has some very coveted military abilities, and each power would rather kill Fragger than see him in the hands of their enemy.

Simply by staying alive and fighting back, Sgt. Sparks triggers all-out war. Along the way, he challenges a fossilized society and teaches the future the true meaning of the Ranger slogan: Rangers lead the way!

Book Reviewed: Well, I bought this book last month and I must say I really enjoyed it. I discovered it by accident when I came across the official website at fine-toon.com. From the outset the action takes you into the far reaches of space and the future, and doesn't stop until the last page - and for that matter, it didn't stop there either - This is just the first book. Any fan of Harry Harrison should buy this book, you wont be disappointed I promise. Great characterization, great plot and great settings make this book well worth the read, and I'd definately recommend it.
